Two big matchups for No. 2 Cornerstone Men’s Basketball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The first regular season Top-25 poll came out on Tuesday and the Golden Eagles dropped one spot to No. 2 behind undefeated Northwestern College (Iowa). Cornerstone has a big week on tap with a rivalry game at Aquinas on Wednesday and a Top-5 matchup against No. 5 Indiana Tech on Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on the Cornerstone Sports Network (CSPN).

Scouting Aquinas – Head coach Ryan Bertoia
The Saints, under second year head coach Ryan Bertoia, are 4-6 overall and 2-1 in league action after a 1-1 showing at the GR Sports Hall of Fame Classic. They have a relatively young lineup that features just one senior in Arsenio Arrington. The forward is their top player as he is averaging 14.0 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. Fellow big man Frank DeVos is putting up 10.3 points and a team-best 5.4 rebounds per night. AJ Atwater and TJ Hunter have been a solid back court duo as they are averaging 9.4 and 8.1 points respectively.

Scouting Indiana Tech – Head coach Ted Albert
The Warriors and first year head coach Ted Albert have been the surprise of the NAIA so far as they started their season with a pair of upsets over No. 2 Union (Ky.) and No. 3 Saint Francis (Ind.). Indiana Tech started their year with eight straight wins before falling on Monday to Walsh University (Ohio). The Warriors have been led on offense by Darren Groves who is one of four players averaging double-figures at 14.5 points per night. As a team, IT puts up 81.0 points per game while allowing only 70.0.
