Men’s Basketball avoids upset with 72-67 win at Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Kyle Steigenga posted 28 points and 14 rebounds while Michael Bradshaw finished with 19 points as the pair of seniors carried the No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles to a 72-67 win at Lawrence Tech on Saturday. The victory is the 13th straight for Cornerstone as they improve to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in the WHAC. CU will finish non-conference play with a pair of games on December 29-30 in Missouri against NAIA D1 No. 22 Vanguard (Calif.) and Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas).

Game Flow
Lawrence Tech started about as good as you can as they connected on six of their first seven shots from the field as they built a 16-4 lead just 6:32 into the game. The lead stayed in double-figures for the next five minutes but CU slowly chipped away at the lead and after five straight from Michael Bradshaw, grabbed a 29-28 edge and they would go into the locker room tied at 32.

Early in the second half, Michael and brother Christopher Bradshaw connected on back to back triples to up CU's lead to 41-36 but the Blue Devils kept things close until a personal 6-0 run by Kyle Steigenga put the Golden Eagles up 57-49. The lead remained at eight (68-60) with just over 1:30 to play but back to back buckets from LTU cut the margin to just three. Steigenga hit two free-throws and got a late dunk to finish off the victory.
