Scouting Vanguard – Head coach Rhett Soliday
The No. 22 ranked team in NAIA DI comes into the Assemblies of God Classic with an overall record of 9-4 while they have yet to start play in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Head coach Rhett Soliday is in his 8th season and has the Lions again looking strong after leading them to the NAIA DI National Title in 2014. This season, VU has been led by Shacquille Dawkins who is one of three players averaging in double-figures with a team best 16.5 points per game. He is followed by Connor Griffin (15.2) and Donte Williams (10.2). As a team, the Lions put up 83.7 points per game while allowing only 72.5 and they shoot .467 from the field and .350 from behind the arc.

Scouting SW Assemblies of God – Head coach Delton Deal
The Lions are the second NAIA DI opponent for Cornerstone this weekend and another tough one as they are 6-4 overall, having won their first six games before dropping their last four. A brutal schedule for head coach Delton Deal saw his team fall to nationally ranked LSU-Alexandria and Science and Arts of Oklahoma in their last two contests. Leading the Lions in scoring is Cam Hill who is averaging 14.5 points per game while Lance Tipton (12.7) and Joshua Kashila (10.6) join him in double-figures.
