No. 1 Men’s Basketball concludes non-conference slate with 86-67 win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Non-conference play for the NAIA DI No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles is in the books after Cornerstone posted an 86-67 win over NAIA DI No. RV SW Assemblies of God on Saturday afternoon. The victory is the 15th straight for CU as they are 15-2 overall. Cornerstone will return to WHAC play on Wednesday when they host No. 23 UM-Dearborn at 7:30 p.m.

Game Flow
After a huge second half lifted the Golden Eagles to an impressive win over No. 22 Vanguard on Friday, the momentum carried over into the opening 10 minutes of today's contest as they raced out to a 13-5 lead just 5:39 in. That margin grew to as many as 12 in the early going but a later SAGU run made it 39-32 in favor of CU at the break.

The defense then clamped down over the first 12 minutes of the second half and CU ran out to a 30-point lead after a Sam Vander Sluis dunk. SAGU got hot from behind the arc to get the lead down to 17 but that would be as close as they would get for the rest of the game with CU winning by 19.
