Sheridan cracks program top 10 scoring list in 78-74 loss to Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – Junior Jesse Sheridan etched her name in Golden Eagle history in a 78-74 loss at Lourdes, tallying her 1,270 career point to rank top 10 in program history. Sheridan tied a career high with 30 in the game, but it was not enough as the Gray Wolves hit tough shots down the stretch to pull out the four-point victory over Cornerstone. CU now moves to 5-7, 3-2 WHAC on the year, as they will continue conference action at Madonna on Saturday.

Game Flow
Both teams got off to a bit of a sluggish start shooting the ball, as the first bucket was not scored until nearly two minutes into the game when Sydney Muller got one to go from behind the arc. Both teams would then trade buckets throughout the rest of the half with neither team being able to garnish a lead larger than six points. Jesse Sheridan caught fire in the half scoring 15 points, going 3-3 from behind the arc, to put the Golden Eagles down by just two at the half, 38-36.

Cornerstone got off to a good start in the third taking their largest lead of four points. CU would not be able to get up by more than that though as Lourdes continued to hit tough shots to only be down two at the end of the period. Both teams traded leads throughout the fourth quarter but a few late shots by Lourdes proved two much for CU to handle. Cornerstone had a chance to tie with a three pointer, but could not hit and they fell 78-74.

By the Numbers
12-4 – Lourdes hit 12 threes to Cornerstone's four in the game.

49.2% – The Golden Eagles shot 49.2% from the field.

Say What….?
"Lourdes is a tough place to play and they hit a lot of shots down the stretch that we couldn't overcome. Our defense needed to be a little better tonight to get the win." – Head Coach, Katie Mattera
