HOLLAND, Mich. – A strong showing in both doubles and singles on Saturday afternoon lifted the Golden Eagles to a 7-2 win at Hope College. CU went up 2-1 after doubles and then claimed five of the six singles matches to up their record to 4-1 on the season. They will return to action next Friday when they host Alma College.
Doubles Highlights: No. 1 duo of March Lerch and
Francisco Fernandez won their match on the top court 8-3 and they were quickly followed by an 8-4 win on the second court behind
Sam Ottosen and
Austin Hendrick. CU fell 8-4 on the third court.
Singles Highlights: CU then took firm control of the match in singles as Lerch and Hendrick both won their matches in three sets while Fernandez (6-3, 6-1),
Grant Morton (6-2, 7-5) and Ottosen (6-4, 6-2) won in straight sets.
Next Up? Cornerstone will host Alma College at Noon on Friday, February 17.
