Men's Tennis defeats Alma 7-2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles followed up their 7-2 season opener with another 7-2 win over Alma today.  Cornerstone won 2 of 3 of the doubles and 5 of the 6 singles matches for the win.  Cornerstone improved to 5-1 on the year with the win.  The Golden Eagles will be off this week and will return to action next Saturday when they host Indiana Wesleyan. 
 
Doubles Highlights: #1 Marc Lerch / Francisco Fernandez won their match 8-5 over Damien Arthur/ Luke Luke Van Fleet.  #3 Sam Ottosen / Dan Ribbink defeated Evan Vergith / Tristen Fox 8-4 to give CU a 2-1 lead after doubles. 
 
Singles Highlights: Cornerstone won 5 of 6 of the singles matches.  #1 Marc Lerch won 6-4, 6-1 over Grant Hill.  #2 Francisco Fernandez defeated Luke Van Fleet 6-3, 6-1.  #3 Austin Hedrick won 6-1, 6-1 over Evan Vergith.  #4 Grant Morton won 6-2, 6-2 over Noah Ackerman.  #5 Sam Ottosen defeated Brett Reuter 6-0, 6-4.  #6 Dan Ribbink had to retire with an injury in his match.
 
Next Up? Cornerstone will host Indiana Wesleyan next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
