GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The men's tennis team opened its spring schedule on Friday and despite some close matches, the Golden Eagles fell 9-0 to NCAA DII foe Grand Valley State. The loss drops CU to 3-1 in dual matches in 2016-17 as they will resume action on Saturday, February 11 at Hope College.
Doubles Highlights: No. 1 doubles
Marc Lerch and
Francisco Fernandez put up a big fight as they fell by the final of 9-7 while the duo of
Austin Hendrick and
Sam Ottosen fell by the margin of 8-4. CU had to forfeit the third court and was behind 3-0 heading into singles.
Singles Highlights:
Grant Morton, making his collegiate debut, fell 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 singles as Lerch was the lone Golden Eagle to go more than two sets as the junior fell 7-5, 6-4, 5-10.
Next Up? Cornerstone will continue their spring indoor season on February 11 when they face Hope College in Holland.
