SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – In a heavily defensive battle, CU earned a huge road victory 55-51 at Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon. Cornerstone battled back in the fourth quarter to seal a win improving their record to 13-13, 10-8 WHAC. The Golden Eagles will return home on Wednesday to play UM-Dearborn at 5:30 p.m. for the annual purple game.
Game Flow
The game started heavily back and fourth, as the lead changed six times in the first quarter. CU then picked up the pace defensively in the second quarter allowing Lawrence Tech just four points in the period, outscoring them 12-4 to take a 27-18 lead into halftime.
Jesse Sheridan and
Cass Vredevoogd combined for 17 of the Golden Eagle 27 points in the half, while the defense held Lawrence Tech to just 21.2% from the field.
Lawrence Tech found their rhythm to begin the third quarter, as they scored more than they had all first half with 20 points in the period. Cornerstone struggled offensively in the third giving Lawrence Tech the lead back 38-37 at the end of the period. Cornerstone then began the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run powered by a pair of three's by
Mya Udell and
Jesse Sheridan to regain the lead at a 47-38. Lawrence Tech continued to battle, but CU never gave the lead back to the Blue Devils earning a big 55-51 road win.

30 – Vredevoogd (16) and Sheridan (14) combined for 30 of the Golden Eagle 55 points in the game.

Taylor Richards got her third start of the season recording seven points and a team high nine rebounds.
43-30 – Cornerstone outrebounded Lawrence Tech 43-30 in the win.
27.7% – Cornerstone's defense held Lawrence Tech to just 18-65 from the field for a 27.7% shooting percentage.
