Men's Tennis sweeps USF (Ill.) 9-0

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Golden Eagles rolled to a 9-0 win over University of St. Francis (Ill.) today on their first match over spring break.  A couple of the double matches were close but the Golden Eagles pulled them out for the sweep and then went on to sweep the singles for the 9-0 victory. Cornerstone improved to 7-1 on the year while USF dropped to 0-444. 
 
Doubles Highlights: No. 1 duo of Marc Lerch / Francisco Fernandez won their match 8-3 over Lucas Randall / Anders Sandberg.  No. 2 pair Austin Hedrick / Sam Ottosen had to play bonus tennis in their 9-7 win over Luka Dordevic / Michael Hasler.   No. 3 partners Dan Ribbink / Grant Morton finished out the sweep in doubles with an 8-6 win over Lucas Navarro / Miguel Rayos. 
 
Singles Highlights: Cornerstone won all 6 of the singles matches as well to complete the sweep of the Fighting Saints from Joliet, Ill.  #1 Marc Lerch won 6-0, 6-4 over Lucas Navarro.  #2 Francisco Fernandez defeated Miguel Rayos 6-1, 6-2.  #3 Austin Hedrick had to battle back after losing 2-6 in the first set.  Hedrick won the second set 7-6 and the third set tiebreaker 10-7 over Machael Hasler.  #4 Grant Morton won 6-2, 6-0 over Luka Dordevic..  #5 Sam Ottosen defeated Anders Sandberg     6-4, 6-1.  #6 Dan Ribbink won 6-2, 6-4 over David Kohler. 
 
Next Up? The Golden Eagles will have tomorrow off and will return to action on Monday when they take on Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla.
