Softball drops both games of Tuesday’s spring break action

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Golden Eagles continued their season on Tuesday morning with a pair of early morning games. They fell 2-0 to Marian, who entered the season ranked No. 7 in the NAIA and then Cornerstone fell to Cardinal Stritch 12-0 in five innings. They'll take a 3-5 record into Thursday's games against Bellevue and No. 2 Saint Xavier.
 
Game Flow
 
Cornerstone 0 – Marian 2 – The Cornerstone defense behind pitcher Brooke Leonard got out of two big jams in the first and fourth innings. Marian finally broke the ice with a run in the fifth before adding an insurance run in the sixth. Mackenzie Vallad had two of the three hits for CU.
 
Cornerstone 0 – Cardinal Stritch 12– The Wolves' bats exploded in the first inning and they never stopped. They tallied 19 hits over the five-inning game. Rachel Chriss got her first hit of the season. Freshmen Cierra Langejans and Alicia Ontiveros also recorded hits.
