ORLANDO, Fla. – The women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season as they concluded their spring break trip with a 6-3 win over Ave Maria (Fla.). The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 1-5 as they will resume action on March 17 at Indiana University Southeast.
Doubles Highlights: Doubles started with a nice 8-1 victory for the second-court duo of
Kali Holmes and
Madeline Grose and CU also picked up a forfeit win on the third court to close out the match 6-3.
Singles Highlights: Singles started the day as Cornerstone built a 4-1 lead. The Golden Eagles got wins at No. 3 (
Ana Hoezee – 6-2, 6-7, 10-5), No. 4 (
Sierra Griffith – 6-2, 6-1) and No. 5 (
Kali Holmes – 6-0, 6-0) while getting a forfeit point on the sixth court. Ave took the two matches on courts 1-2.
Next Up? Cornerstone concludes their spring break trip with a 1-5 record as they will resume play next weekend in Indiana against IU-Southeast.
