LIMA, Ohio - The #RV Men's Tennis team fell to rival Davenport on Friday in the opening match of the 2017 WHAC Tournament, hosted by Northwestern Ohio. The Golden Eagles dropped their second match of the season to the Panthers by the same 5-3 score as they conclude their 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 14-10.

Cornerstone pulled the curtain on a tough finish to their 2016-17 season as they fell in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney on Friday to rival Davenport. It marked the second 5-3 setback to the Panthers in the last two weeks but this one concluded a successful season as a whole.

The Golden Eagles fell behind 2-1 in the doubles' session as the lone point came from Marc Lerch and Francisco Fernandez (8-5 at No. 1). CU lost 8-6 on the second court and 8-4 on the third.

In singles, Lerch posted a straight sets win on the top court while Fernandez also won in two sets at No. 2. The Golden Eagles were not able to get any other wins as they lost tight matches on court 6 and court 3.

CU, which was ranked as high as No. 19 this season (highest in program history), will return all seven players for the 2017-18 campaign.
