BOURBONNAIS, Ill – The Golden Eagles kicked off their season on Saturday evening against a strong opponent in Olivet Nazarene. The Golden Eagles played a solid game all night against the 18th-ranked Tigers. The only scoring took place early in the second half when the teams both scored within a minute of each other. Olivet Nazarene had 25 shots, 17 on goal while Cornerstone only had 12 shots, five on goal. The Golden Eagles will take their 0-0-1 record back to Illinois on September 6 as they travel to Saint Xavier University.

The teams ended in a 1-1 draw after a couple scoreless 10-minute overtime halves.
Dary DeWalt's 16 saves put him on top of the list for most saves in a game in Cornerstone history, breaking a 17 year-old record.
