Men's Soccer to continue season against Calumet College of St. Joseph

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles (1-1-1) will host Calumet College of St. Joseph (1-3) on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Since the season-opening 1-1 draw against No. 18 Olivet Nazarene on August 26, the Golden Eagles fell to Saint Xavier (Ill.) 2-0 before winning the home opener against Trinity Christian 3-2. Kachinvya Silwamba scored two goals in the win against Trinity Christian.

Strong offense from Silwamba
After recording an assist in his Golden Eagle debut against Olivet Nazarene, Kachinvya Silwamba tallied two goals in the 3-2 victory over Trinity Christian. The accomplishment earned him Golden Eagle of the Week honors from Cornerstone Athletics. Silwamba did not play during the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to injury, but back in 2014 he played 17 games and scored four goals at Southwestern Christian University.

Scouting Calumet College of St. Joseph
Calumet College of St. Joseph enters the week with a 1-3 overall record. Freshman James Meehan leads the Crimson Wave with three goals over the first four games. Head Coach Jason Higgins is in his first year at the helm of the program. The team finished with a 5-12-1 overall record in 2016.

Looking Ahead
After the match against Calumet, the Golden Eagles will have one more non-conference match against Spring Arbor on September 19 before starting up conference action against Lawrence Tech on September 23.
