GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles earned a huge 1-0 upset victory over no. 16 Taylor University on Tuesday afternoon. A goal by
Morgan Haddad in the 34
th minute ended up being the difference, giving CU consecutive victories for the first time this season. Cornerstone is now 4-2-1 on the year, as they will host Lawrence Tech for the WHAC home opener on Friday at 7 p.m.

Cornerstone came out with some energy, trading shots with the Trojans for much of the first half. A perfectly placed corner kick by
Savannah Petty that was finished by
Morgan Haddad in the 34
th minute ended up giving CU a 1-0 lead going into the break.
The 16
th ranked Trojans came out much stronger in the second half, outshooting the Golden Eagles 10-1 in the period. A few key saves by
Mikayla Johnson along with a pair of defensive clearances by
Taylor Pratt and
Meredith Haddad helped Cornerstone hold on to a 1-0 lead. In the final five minutes, Taylor put even more pressure on net to score, but CU was able to hold them off to earn a huge 1-0 win.
