Phoebe LaCroix and
Madissen Kruit each scored their first collegiate goals, both coming in the first half, as Cornerstone downed visiting Lawrence Tech 2-0 on Friday evening. The win in the league opener lifts the Golden Eagles to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the WHAC. CU will host Rochester College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Game Flow...
The early going saw the Blue Devils create a few solid chances from just outside the CU goal box but the defenders did not allow them to get many clean looks.
With just under 10 minutes to play in the opening half, CU put together some good sequences, which resulted in a great opportunity when freshman Phoebe Lacroix put away a loose ball in the box for her first collegiate goal in the 39'.

Madissen Kruit then matched Phoebe with her own collegiate first as she put a ball away on a corner kick to put CU up 2-0 heading into the half.
The second half saw the defense take over for both teams as the Golden Eagles'
Mikayla Johnson pitched the shutout while collecting nine saves.
