No. 14 Volleyball picks up road sweep of No. RV Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – Cornerstone used a late rally in the opener to win 27-25 which then carried them to a pair of convincing victories in the next two sets as the No. 14 ranked Golden Eagles swept Siena Heights 3-0 on Wednesday night. The 27-25, 25-11, 25-19 victory lifts CU to 13-5 on the season and 6-0 in the WHAC. CU will remain on the road for their next two matches beginning Friday at No. 20 Madonna.

Match Flow…

Cornerstone, which pulled off a dramatic 5-set win the last time they were in Adrian, took a slim lead early in the first set and expanded it to 15-11 on a block from Ellie Van Laar and kill from Heather Carlson and they eventually led 24-21 only to see the Saints score the next four points to grab a 25-24 edge. CU then rallied behind a kill from Calrson and back to back aces from Mackenzie Vallad to claim the 27-25 win.

That late rally enabled the Golden Eagles to carry momentum into the second set in which they dominated from start to finish, winning 25-11.

Set three was back and forth for the first ten points but a small run of 5-1 put CU up 14-10 and they would slowly increase that eventually winning 25-19.
