Vredevoogd scores 1,000th career point in 83-58 win over UM-Dearborn

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Senior Cass Vredevoogd hit a major milestone, recording her 1,000th career point in a dominating CU victory over the visiting Wolverines of UM-Dearborn. With the win, CU has now won five in a row, the seasons longest winning streak, moving them to 10-8, 5-3 WHAC. Cornerstone will continue a three game home stand with a matchup vs. Rochester College on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Game Flow
After a bit of a slow start offensively for both sides, the Golden Eagles started to run away with the score going on a 15-0 run in the second quarter. A pesky Cornerstone defense came up with 10 steals and created 15 turnovers to take a 42-16 lead into the half. Cass Vredevoogd led CU with 11 first half points, while Jesse Sheridan and Sydney Muller each scored nine in the half.

UM-Dearborn found their offense in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Eagles 23-19 in the period, but they remained down by 22 with entering the fourth. UM-Dearborn could not get the stops needed for a huge comeback, as they traded buckets with the Golden Eagles throughout the final period, resulting in a __-__ win for CU.

By the Numbers
 36 – Just 36 seconds into the second half, Cass Vredevoogd hit a layup for her 13th point in the game and 1,000th career point.
21-13 –. Cornerstone forced 21 turnovers while only turning the ball over 13 times themselves.
