Newly No. 9 Men’s Hoops turns attention back to WHAC play

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The first regular season NAIA Top-25 Poll was released on Tuesday and Cornerstone remained inside the Top-10 as the Golden Eagles fell two spots to No. 9. CU, which leads the WHAC at 3-0, returns to conference play on Wednesday where they will open a 3-game home-stand against Lawrence Tech at 7:30 p.m. Cornerstone will also host Lourdes on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Scouting Lawrence Tech – Head coach Josh Pickens
The Blue Devils, under second year head coach Joshua Pickens, are 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the WHAC and are fresh off a 1-1 weekend at the Thanksgiving Tourney, hosted by Kalamazoo College. LTU has a pair of league wins over Madonna and UNOH while they fell just before the holiday break at Siena Heights. The Blue Devils are led on offense by Ty Shearles (21.7ppg) while Devonte Myles (12.7), Jalen Bethel (12.0) and Carter Frantz (10.7) average in double-figures. LTU puts up 76.3 points per game and is shooting 42.9% from the floor.

Scouting Lourdes – Head coach Josh Gibson
The Gray Wolves are 6-3 overall on the season heading into the week in which they host Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening. Third year head coach Josh Gibson has seen his teams grow from seven wins in his first season to 10 last year and now already six through its first nine in 2018-19. LU is led by a strong 3-player offensive punch as Kadeim Jones (16.1), Clif Snow (15.8) and Brett Lauf (13.2) combine for 58% of their scoring average as a team. LU has played just two road games thus far and are 1-1 with a win at Carlow and a loss at Madonna.
