SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Golden Eagles held a 1-0 lead for the majority of the game, but fell in heartbreaking fashion giving up a goal in the 84th minute and in overtime to fall 2-1 at Lawrence Tech in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) quarterfinal. The season concludes now for Cornerstone as they finish the 2018 campaign with a 8-10-1, 7-4-0 WHAC record.
How it happened:
- Cornerstone drew first blood on a goal from Kachinvya Silwamba in the 20th minute that was assisted by David Mutembezi. The goal was Silwamba's second of the year and gave CU a 1-0 lead.
- CU was outshot 9-3 in the first half but was able to maintain a 1-0 lead going into the break.
- The defense continued to hold strong in the second half, until the 84th minute when Lawrence Tech found the net to tie the game 1-1.
- Lawrence Tech then ended it by a golden goal six minutes into the first overtime, when Alvaro Garcia found the net to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 WHAC quarterfinal victory.

The Golden Eagles have concluded the 2018 campaign with a 8-10-1 record. CU will now enter the offseason and begin preparations for the 2019 season.
