Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The women's tennis team set a new program record for consecutive wins as they took down Roosevelt University by a final of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. The victory is the third straight for the Golden Eagles as they improve to 3-1 on the season. CU will resume action on March 20 when they face old WHAC-foe Davenport at 6 p.m.
Doubles Highlights - CU continued its strong starts to matches as they grabbed a 3-0 lead after the doubles' play. The Golden Eagles got an 8-4 win at No. 1 behind the play of
Lauren Brendel and
Sierra Griffith and extended the lead to 2-0 with an 8-2 victory at No. 2 behind
Nicole VerHulst and
Marissa Hooker. The third point came via a forfeit as Roosevelt did not have enough players.
Singles Highlights - Cornerstone got their fourth point thanks to another forfeit and then wrapped up the win with two wins at No. 5 -
Sierra Griffith (6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 -
Marissa Hooker (3-0, forfeit).
What's Next? Cornerstone will have some time off as they will not resume play until March 20 when they face off against old WHAC-foe Davenport.
