Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The men's tennis team faced tough competition this weekend down in Indiana as they played to a 4-4 draw against Huntington before falling to No. RV Indiana Wesleyan in the nightcap. The 0-1-1 mark leaves CU at 2-2-1 as they will now have some time off before resuming play in mid-March against old WHAC-foe Davenport.
Huntington Match - CU grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles play as the No. 1 court of
Sam Ottosen and
Austin Hendrick won a thrilling 8-7 match while the No. 3 court of
Nick Kleitch and
Dan Ribbink won their match 8-3.
Singles saw the Golden Eagles and Foresters battle to a pair of three-set matches with HU winning both of those at No. 1 and No. 2. Cornerstone picked up two wins from
John Cocoma (6-2, 6-0 at No. 4) and Aliaksei Kanstansina (6-3, 6-2 at No. 3). Huntington won at No. 6 to even the match at 4-4 but the final match went unfinished due to court time.
Indiana Wesleyan match - The Wildcats, who are now 17-0 on the season and receiving votes in the national poll, had their way with the Golden Eagles as they won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches.
What's Next? Cornerstone will have some time off before beginning play again on March 20 against Davenport.
