Game Flow
The Golden Eagles and Warriors traded buckets early in the first as everything seemed to fall with both teams shooting over 50%. Six first quarter turnovers cost Cornerstone in the middle of the period though, as Indiana Tech would go on a 10-2 run to take an 23-15 lead. CU would battle back to cut the deficit to 25-22 thanks to a quick 5-0 run to start the second that was highlighted by a
Mya Udell three. The remainder of the second quarter went back to the two teams trading buckets as Cornerstone would find themselves down just one at the half, 34-33.
The third quarter began with nearly two minutes of scoreless basketball before both offenses picked back up and continued to trade buckets. A 9-0 run by the Warriors at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth got them out to their largest lead of nine with just 9:15 remaining in the game. Cornerstone would once again battle back responding with a 9-1 run, including a huge three from
Sydney Muller. The game would continue to change leads in the final minutes sitting tied at 66 with a minute to go. A jumper by
Lizzy Otten put CU up by two and then a pair of crucial turnovers in the final seconds allowed Cornerstone to ice the game at the line for a 72-69 WHAC Tournament Championship victory.
