GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's tennis team heads into the Easter break on a high note as the Golden Eagles defeated the Grace Bible College Tigers 9-0 on Thursday night. The victory lifts CU to 5-2 on the year and they will take a 2-match winning streak into their next contest on April 6 against Spring Arbor.
Doubles Highlights: Cornerstone took a 3-0 lead thanks to a sweep on Court 3
Hannah Ottosen and
Ana Hoezee. They were matched with victories - an 8-1 decision on Court 1 (
Lauren Brendel and
Marissa Hooker) and 8-4 decision on Court 2 (
Nicole VerHulst and
Amanda VerHulst).
Singles Highlights: Sierra Griffith posted the most convincing win in singles play as the sophomore won 6-0, 6-0 on Court 4 while CU got sweeps in all six of the matches.
Taylor Shoults picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 while
Madeline Grose won 6-4, 6-2 on Court 5.
What's Next? Cornerstone will be off until next Friday when they take on Spring Arbor.
