Women's Tennis falls to Spring Arbor in non-conference action

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's tennis team enters the most difficult portion of their schedule and they got it started with a tough 9-0 setback to non-conference foe Spring Arbor on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles fall to 5-3 on the season with the loss as they will host nationally ranked Northwestern Ohio on Saturday morning at GR Racquet and Fitness Club at 9 a.m.

Doubles Highlights: The Cougars took a 3-0 edge into the singles portion thanks to a sweep of 8-0 at No. 2, 8-1 at No. 1 and 8-3 at No. 3. The closest CU came was on the third court behind the play of reigning WHAC Player of the Week Marissa Hooker and Nicole VerHulst.

Singles Highlights: Sierra Griffith put up the biggest fight for Cornerstone as the sophomore fell in a three-set tie-breaker, 6-4, 2-6, 10-2. SAU controlled the play in the other five matches, winning four of them in straight sets and the other was by default.
