GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles faced #RV Aquinas on Tuesday afternoon after playing 24 innings of Softball on Monday. Cornerstone didn't record a hit in the first game as Aquinas won 3-0. A late comeback effort fell short in a 4-2 loss in the second game. The pair of losses drops CU's record to 11-15 overall, 6-8 WHAC. The Golden Eagles have three more crucial doubleheaders this week as Concordia, Lourdes, and UM-Dearborn will all visit the new turf in search of a WHAC Playoff berth.
Game 1 – The Golden Eagles only had three baserunners all game and was held hitless by Aquinas Pitcher Marisa Loya. The no-hitter was the first time since April 15, 2015 when the Golden Eagles didn't record a hit against ex-rival Davenport.
Defensively, Freshman Courtney Ducharme started in the circle for only the second time this season. Ducharme surrendered only one earned run and eight hits.
Game 2 – Aquinas tallied two runs in both of the first two innings.
McKena Razenberg got Cornerstone on the board in the 3rd inning with her first career triple to drive in her former high school teammate, freshman
Aliyah Lemmer. Lemmer tacked on another run with an RBI double in the 5th inning to make it 4-2.
Lexi Lieske, who had a 7-RBI game against Aquinas last year, started the 7th inning with a double to left field, but was stranded on base to end the game.
