GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles faced Lourdes on Friday afternoon for two crucial WHAC games. Cornerstone came back in game one but fell short in extra innings for the third time this week. A five-run 5th inning for Lourdes propelled them to an 11-7 victory in game two. The pair of losses sets up a pair of must-win games on Saturday against Michigan-Dearborn.

Game 1 – Alicia Ontiveros hit a two-RBI single in the 6th inning to give CU a 4-3 lead after six innings. Lourdes tallied a run in the top of 7th to force extra innings. The Gray Wolves grabbed a 5-4 lead in the top of the 9th inning, but Jessica Wright responded with an RBI double to even the game at 5-5 after nine innings, forcing a 10th inning. The Gray Wolves prevailed in the 10th frame, handing CU their 3rd extra-inning loss of the week.

Sierra Sanchez had her 3rd three-hit game of the season.

Game 2 – Sierra Sanchez got the Golden Eagles on the board early with a 2-RBI double in the first inning. McKena Razenberg and Alicia Ontiveros each tallied an RBI in the second inning to go up 4-2. After Lourdes got a run back in the top of the 3rd, Rachel Younts extended the deficit back to two with an RBI single to make it 5-3 after three frames. Courtney Ducharme hit her 6th double of the season to drive in another run in the 4th inning. Lourdes outscored Cornerstone 8-0 in the final three innings of play to take game two by a score of 11-7.

Mackenzie Vallad had two hits and two runs, while Rachel Younts and McKena Razenberg had two hits and an RBI apiece.
