HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Senior
Kendra Zwart surpassed 1,000 career kills in the season opener to lead No. 16 Cornerstone to a 3-1 come from behind win over Brescia but her team-best 11 kills in the nightcap were not enough to avoid an upset to the host Huntington Foresters. The split on day one of the 2018 campaign send CU into Saturday's action bright and early against Life Pacific (Calif.) at 8 a.m. EST.

- Cornerstone started slow with a 25-15 loss to Brescia but rebounded for 27-25, 25-22, 25-19 wins for the 3-1 opening victory
- The Golden Eagles saw a new setter for the first time in four seasons as Kayla Clark led the way with 22 helpers
- Kendra Zwart posted a team-high 17 kills which pits her over 1,000 for her career
- The nightcap saw CU race out to a big 25-13 win over Huntington but they fell in the next three, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22
- The loss to HU is Cornerstone's first against a team from the Crossroads league since 2012 (loss to Bethel - Ind.)
