MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Golden Eagles were unable to get a victory in the season opener against Mount Vernon Nazarene, falling 4-1 to the Cougars on the road. MVNU got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first half hour of the match to take early command. CU falls to 0-1-0 on the year with the loss, as they will return to action on September 7 for the home opener against Huntington University.

- Cornerstone responded with a goal in the 55thminute by Alexys Riksen that was assisted by Erica Mick.

- Riksen played in her first game in over a year returning to the pitch after hip surgery.
