Women’s Soccer falls 5-0 in non-conference finale at Taylor

UPLAND, Ind. – In an afternoon game that saw temperatures in the 90's, Cornerstone was unable to come away with a road victory falling 5-0 at No. 23 Taylor in the non-conference finale. CU did not find the net for the first time this season, moving their record to 4-2-0 overall. The Golden Eagles will return home for the WHAC opener against Concordia as part of Night of Nets weekend and homecoming on the campus of Cornerstone University. 

What you need to know
  • Ali Colodgo scored her first collegiate goal for Taylor just 12:19 into the match on a ball kicked in off a cross to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • Morgan Orme scored five minutes later for the Trojans to give them a quick 2-0 lead. 
  • Kate Kortenhoeven booted in a dagger of a goal with just 3:08 left in the first half to give TU a 3-0 lead at the break. 
  • Ali Clodgo scored her second goal of the game in the 58thminute.
  • The scoring was capped off by Emma Walsh in the 70thminute, making the score 5-0.
  • Four of Taylors five goals were assisted. 
  • Abby Workman and Mikayla Johnson each played 45 minutes in net. 
  • Taylor's top two goal scores who had 15 of the teams 22 goals on the year entering today's game did not play due to injury.

  • Cornerstone has been shutout for the first time this season. 
  • CU has outscored opponents 14-3 at home and has been outscored 9-1 on the road. 
 
What's Next? 
The Golden Eagles return home for their annual Night of Nets match and WHAC opener against Concordia on Saturday at 5 p.m. Night of Nets shirts will be on sale all weekend for $10, and all proceeds will go toward purchasing bed nets to help end Malaria in Africa.
