Women’s Soccer falls in final minute on Night of Nets

 
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone falls in heartbreaking fashion, as Concordia scores with 36 seconds remaining on the clock to down CU 1-0. The Cardinals were given a free kick after a red card was handed out that ended up being the difference in the game. The Golden Eagles now fall to 4-3-0, 0-1-0 WHAC on the year as they will travel to Aquinas on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. WHAC match.

  • Cornerstone had a hot first half shooting the ball with 11 shots.
  • Concordia keeper Maria Lulgjuraj kept the game tied at the half with nine saves. 
  • Grace Wiersma was given a yellow card in the 29thminute. 
  • Concordia had two players receive yellow cards in the second half. 
  • Grace Wiersma was given her second yellow with 36 seconds remaining that led to a free kick and game winning goal for the Cardinals. 
  • Olyvia Putnam scored the goal for CUAA, her first of the year.
