GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagle volleyball team will play for the first time in 10 days when it opens WHAC play on Wednesday at Aquinas College before hosting the annual AQ/CU Classic over the weekend. CU and AQ will play inside the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of Aquinas College before the Golden Eagles return back for their home opener on Friday at 4 p.m. against IU-Kokomo.
 
 
Quick Facts

• Cornerstone has won its last eight WHAC openers, including three over Aquinas
• The senior class boasts a WHAC record of 44-9 including 29-2 over the last two years
• CU will put a 27-match home win streak on the line on Friday in the AQ/CU Classic
• The last home loss inside Mol Arena was back on October 28, 2015
• Cornerstone is led by 2-time WHAC Player of the Year, Kendra Zwart on offense and fellow senior Mackenzie Vallad on defense
• Head coach Ryan Campbell, in his tenth season, boasts an overall record of 238-111

 
Scouting the Opponents

• Aquinas (6-2) – The Saints had a solid showing out west at the annual GSAC Summer Slam as their only two losses were against No. 10 Westmont (Calif.) and a tough The Masters (Calif.) team
• IU-Kokomo (7-2) – The Cougars have opened the season on a strong note and have split against WHAC schools (Loss to Indiana Tech, beat UNOH)
• Lincoln Christian (1-6) – The Red Lions have struggled to a 1-6 mark so far in 2018 and are playing Lindenwood on Wednesday before coming to Grand Rapids
• Saint Francis (3-6) – The Saints are 3-6 so far this season and last played against Cornerstone down in Chicago at the TCC/SXU Crossover
• IU-East.(5-3) - The Red Wolves have one more match before heading to GR this weekend as they will face Bluffton (Ohio) on Tuesday night
