GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles come home for the first time this season as they continue a tough non-conference schedule as part of the Cornerstone Classic. No. 12 Cornerstone will invite no. 4 Morningside, no. 23 Indiana Tech, and Grace Christian to compete in the Cornerstone Classic that will see two games on both Friday and Saturday. Cornerstone will play Grace Christian on Friday night at 8 p.m. and no. 4 Morningside on Saturday at 3 p.m. All four games will have live video and stats available with links at cugoldeneagles.com.

The Golden Eagles opened the 2019-20 campaign in the WHAC/CL Challenge where the team took on two NAIA DII Top 5 opponents in (4) Indiana Wesleyan and (1) Spring Arbor. CU lost 94-76 to IWU to start the year, but rebounded with an 84-79 overtime victory over the top ranked Cougars of Spring Arbor. Cornerstone will see yet another NAIA DII Top 5 opponent this weekend as they come home to host the Cornerstone Classic where they will play Grace Christian and (4) Morningside.
Down Goes Number One
With the win against (1) Spring Arbor, Cornerstone is now 4-4 all-time against the NAIA DII top ranked teams in the country. The last time CU defeated number one prior to Saturday was in the 2015-16 season when Cornerstone defeated then WHAC foe Davenport in late February behind monster games from Cory Cox and

Rodriguez Strong Start
Junior
Christian Rodriguez has gotten off to a strong start, specifically in the win against Spring Arbor hitting the game tying bucket and scoring 10 of 12 points in the overtime. Rodriguez is averaging a team best 17.5 PPG and seven assists through the first two games of the season.
Cornerstone Classic
Cornerstone will be joined inside Mol Arena by three teams this weekend for the Cornerstone Classic as Grace Christian, (23) Indiana Tech, and (4) Morningside all come to town. The classic will open at 6 p.m. Friday night between (23) Indiana Tech and (4) Morningside and will be followed by (12) Cornerstone vs. Grace Christian. On Saturday, the teams will flip opponents as (23) Indiana Tech will take on Grace Christian at 1 p.m. and (12) Cornerstone will host (4) Morningside at 3 p.m.
Scouting Grace Christian
The defending NCCAA National Champion Tigers have come into 2019-20 off to a good start going 2-1 with their only loss being to WHAC opponent UM-Dearborn. Grace followed the loss to UM-Dearborn with a three point win at (RV) Siena Heights. Grace has three players averaging 10+ points per game as Brandon Winchester-Jones leads the team with 15.7 PPG.
Scouting Morningside
The Mustangs open the 2019-20 campaign at the Cornerstone Classic after finishing 2018-19 with a 29-4 record and NAIA DII National Tournament Quarterfinal appearance. Cornerstone and Morningside were both knocked out of the NAIA DII National Tournament by College of Idaho last season as the Mustangs only lost by three points in the quarterfinals. Morningside returns all five starters in 2019-20 including the team's leading scorer and rebounder Tyler Borchers who is a 6-7 junior center from Le Mars, Iowa.
