Women's soccer slips past Rochester with 3-2 victory

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Four goals in the second half capped off a wild match that saw Cornerstone claim a 3-2 victory over Rochester University. Alexys Riksen scored the late winner to propel CU to 9-3-0 on the season and 3-2-0 in the WHAC. With the loss, Rochester falls to 0-12-0 with a 0-5-0 record in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday in Lima, Ohio for a 1pm match against UNOH.
 
The Highlights
  • Alexys Riksen started Cornerstone off with a bang, scoring in the 15th minute off of an assist from Anna Morgan.
  • CU took a 1-0 lead into halftime, which was doubled six minutes into the second half when Riksen found Erica Mick, who fired it into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
  • Rochester fought back, grabbing a pair of goals in ten minutes to draw the match level at 2-2 after 65 minutes.
  • The Golden Eagles responded with an offensive flurry. Alexys Riksen was the hero, breaking through in the 88th minute to score and give CU a 3-2 victory.
