GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles concluded the season on Saturday afternoon against the Madonna Crusaders, who are ranked 25th in the NAIA. Madonna found the back of the net twice in the first half en route to a 2-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone concludes the 2019 season with a 2-14-2 overall record, 1-9-1 in the WHAC.
The Highlights:
- Madonna struck first with just under 18 minutes to play in the first half when Castro DeSiqueira finished a loose ball in front.
- The Crusaders doubled their lead late in the first half when Caio Mazzo Nogueira scored a header directly off a corner kick.
- Cornerstone had two corner kicks in the first five minutes of the second half. The first sequence ended with a wide Davin McMullin shot. The second ended in a Brennan Joseph volley attempt that went over the bar.
- Jeshua Boggs made a goal-saving clearance early in the second half to keep the deficit at two.
- Lucas Ribeiro had a long set piece opportunity with seven minutes to play in regulation but the shot attempt soared over the crossbar.
