GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Another slow start for the Golden Eagle offense, paired with an explosive opening by the Foresters of Huntington, left too much of a mountain for CU to attempt to climb, falling 77-52. Cornerstone had no answer for Sarah Fryman, who tallied 27 points and 12 rebounds. The only player in double figure for CU was
Rebekah Crosby, who had another strong game for the Golden Eagles. Her 18 points and 5 rebounds were tops for Cornerstone, while
Shelby Nyboer led the squad with 3 assists. CU will be back in action on Tuesday, November 5
th for a matchup with #12 University of St. Francis. Tipoff is set for 7 pm and the game can be followed live on cugoldeneagles.com.
Game Flow:
- Huntington came out of the gates red hot, notching 25 points in the first quarter. Cornerstone had no answer for the Forester offense, as they were only able to generate 7 points of their own.
- CU was able to turn their offense up a notch in the second. They tallied 15 points, to Huntington's 20.
- Huntington took a 45-22 lead into the half, but Cornerstone responded with a strong second half to hold the gap.
- The third quarter saw one point separate the two sides, with CU scoring 11 and Huntington 12.
- Trailing by 24 going into the fourth, the Golden Eagles produced their best offensive quarter of the night. Their 19 points was their best quarter of the night, which was just outpaced by Huntington's 20.
