LIVONIA, Mich. – The Golden Eagles continued WHAC play on Saturday afternoon at Madonna. Both teams entered the game winless in conference action. After trailing by five at halftime, Cornerstone outscored Madonna 41-29 in the second half to prevail by a score of 67-60 to earn their first conference victory of the season. The Golden Eagles (2-13, 1-6 WHAC) will conclude the 2019 calendar year with a non-conference home contest against Davenport on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Game Flow:
- Cornerstone led by as many as seven in the first quarter en route to a 12-9 lead after one frame.
- Madonna led 31-26 at halftime after ending the second quarter on a 9-2 scoring run.
- The Golden Eagles scored the first seven points of the third quarter to regain the lead early in the second half, but the Crusaders immediately responded with a 7-0 run of their own to reestablish their five-point cushion.
- A jumper from Charity Ingleright late in the third quarter gave Cornerstone a 47-45 lead heading into the final quarter.
- After the teams traded leads for the majority of the game, the score was knotted up at 58-58 with three minutes to play.
- Cornerstone pulled away late, sealing a 67-60 victory for their first WHAC victory of the season.
