GRAND RAPIDS. Mich. – The Golden Eagles began a busy weekend of action with a match vs. receiving votes Indiana Wesleyan and fell 5-0 with four unfinished singles matches. The Wildcats played both Aquinas and Cornerstone on Friday night which is what resulted in the early finish. With the loss, CU is now 4-2 overall as they take on Alma College today at Alma.
Doubles Highlights – At no. 1 doubles,
John Cocoma and
Tomas Yacuzio would battle but would fall 8-4. No. 2 doubles was the best match of the day, as Aliaksei Kanstantsina and
Mateo Jimenez would be leading for most of the match, but would fall 9-8 in a tie breaker game. The no. 3 doubles team of
Nick Kleitch and
Dan Ribbink were unable to win a game falling 8-0 to IWU.
Singles Highlights – No. 1 – No. 4 singles would go unfinished, as CU would be trailing in all of those matches before getting cut short except for one where Aliakesi Kanstantsina had defeated his opponent 6-2 in the first set before getting cut short. No. 5 and no. 6 singles would finish, both resulting in losses for CU at 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0.
