ORLANDO, Fla. – The Golden Eagles dropped No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches but were able to win the No. 2 flight in order to stay in the match. Cornerstone regained their stride by winning three straight singles matches. Unfortunately, they were unable to win the last two singles matches that would have sealed the win for Birmingham-Southern. CU will be back in action tomorrow as they take on the University of Saint Francis tomorrow at 6:30p.m. Tomorrow will mark the second of seven straight match days in a row on their trip down south.
Doubles Highlights– Cornerstone had a slow start to the match, only taking one of the three doubles matches. Despite all of the matches being close,
John Cocoma and
Mateo Jimenez, at No. 2 doubles were the only doubles flight to take win. This dynamic duo's set score was 8-6 and it marked the sixth doubles win for both John and Mateo.
Singles Highlights– There were a lot of hard-fought matches on the singles side, including two 3-set matches losses. Those matches were played by
John Cocoma, No. 1 singles, and
Nick Kleitch No. 5 singles. In between those two matches there were three straight wins by the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles. The final match was a tough loss taken by Cornerstone's No. 6 singles, giving Birmingham-Southern College the win.
Cornerstone will play their next match tomorrow against the University of St. Francis at 6:30p.m.
