ORLANDO, Fla. – The Golden Eagles rebounded from a tough 5-4 loss a night ago to defeat Saint Francis of Illinois 6-3 on Sunday evening. CU won two of the three doubles matches to get off to a hot start in the match. With the win, CU is now 6-4 as they will jump right back to action against Judson on Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. back at the USTA National Campus.
Doubles Highlights– Cornerstone got a huge win at number one doubles, as
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau and
Tomas Yacuzio won a tie breaker 7-4 to win the match 8-7. No. 2 doubles also got a win for the Golden Eagles, as
John Cocoma and
Mateo Jimenez won 8-4. Saint Francis took the third doubles match as CU led 2-1 heading into singles play.
Singles Highlights– CU saw a tough loss at number one singles losing in a tie breaker, but number two through number five singles all recorded victories to help CU clinch the match.
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau recorded the strongest win for CU winning 6-2, 6-0 at no. 4 singles, while
Tomas Yacuzio allowed just four game victories to his opponent in a 6-1, 6-3.
Cornerstone will play again tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against Judson University at the USTA National Campus
