SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Golden Eagles lost 6-3 against Lawrence Tech University. Within doubles play Cornerstone was able to win one of the three matches. CU battled in very close matches within singles including a long three set match at the No. 5 slot. The team will have about a week before they travel to Spring Arbor University on Saturday, March 30
th.
Doubles Highlights– Cornerstone was able to win one of the three matches within doubles play.
Mateo Jimenez and
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau were able to win their third straight match at No. 2 doubles. They played a long, grueling match that they ended up winning 8-5. This doubles victory for
Mateo Jimenez gave him his 25
thtotal win of the season, five more total wins than any else on the team.
Singles Highlights– CU won both the No. 2 and No. 4 singles flights.
Mateo Jimenez once again was able to defeat his opponent in straight sets. Jimenez won a seven game pro-set 7-3 in the second set in order to avoid playing a full third set. The other singles win came from
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau at the No. 4 singles slot. This 6-3, 6-2 win was Aliaksei's second straight singles match win.
Cornerstone will have a week to rest before hitting the road to play Spring Arbor University on Saturday, March 30
th.
