GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles suffered a pair of tough losses, allowing late runs in each game to fall 7-2 and 6-4 to Indiana Tech. With the losses, CU falls to 7-15 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Cornerstone will have a quick turnaround and get back to action for another double-header tomorrow at 1 p.m. vs. UNOH. Game 1: Cornerstone 2 – Indiana Tech 7

After two scoreless innings of play, Indiana Tech got on the board in the top of the third with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

CU responded and took the lead 2-1 with a two RBI single from the catcher Hannah May.

In the fifth, Indiana Tech was able to tie the game after an Ali LeNoue single scored Brianna Glass.

Later in the fifth, Payton Robinson tripled for the Warriors to score two more runs and give IIT the lead back at 4-2.

The Warriors added insurance runs in the sixth and the seventh inning to earn a 7-2 win in game one.

Starter Ashley Loera pitched the full seven innings for CU and gave up 14 hits and seven earned runs in the game.
Game 2: Cornerstone 4 – Indiana Tech 6

The Warriors got off to a quick start in game two, scoring a run in the first on an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

Another RBI double in the third inning gave IIT a 2-0 lead in the third

CU found the scoreboard for the first time in game two on an Alicia Ontiveros single and an Indiana Tech error that brought home Maddie Vassar to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Indiana Tech got a run back in the top of the fourth however on a double steal attempt that ended up being unsuccessful but still scored a run.

Cornerstone tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth after a Lexi Lieske RBI single and a McKena Razenberg fielder's choice.

The big inning came in the fifth for the Warriors as they regained the lead 6-3 after a pair of RBI singles and an RBI double.

CU was only able to get one run back falling short in the comeback effort by a score of 6-4.
By the Numbers
10 - 10 different Golden Eagle players recorded a hit on the day.
2 - Alicia Ontiveros was the only CU player to have a multi-hit game.
4 - Courtney Ducharme recorded four of the Golden Eagles five strikeouts from the circle today.
What's Next?
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow for a WHAC double-header against UNOH starting at 1 p.m. at the CU Softball Field.
