CLERMONT, Fla. – Cornerstone came out swinging on Thursday afternoon and earned a pair of wins over Grace College and William Woods University. Since losing the first five games of the season, the Golden Eagles have won four of their last five games for a 4-6 record heading into Friday's games against Hannibal-LaGrange and Saint Francis.
Game 1: Cornerstone 7 -- Grace 3
- Cornerstone committed two fielding errors and surrendered two runs in the top of the 1st inning.
- The Lancers added an unearned run in the 2nd inning.
- Courtney Ducharme and Cierra Langejans got CU on the board with back-to-back RBI singles in the second inning.
- Moriah Wilke evened the score at 3-3 in the 4th inning with an RBI base hit to right field.
- Ducharme and Wilke both added their second RBIs of the game in the 6th inning before McKena Razenberg finished off the scoring with a two-RBI base hit up the middle.
Game 2: Cornerstone 9 – William Woods 2
- The Golden Eagles sent all nine batters to the plate in the 1st inning to jump out to a quick 3-0 lead.
- RBI doubles from Mackenzie Vallad and Sierra Sanchez highlighted a three-run 2nd inning to give CU a 6-1 lead after two innings.
- Jocelyn Hernandez earned her first career hit and RBI in the 7th inning with a double to left field that drove in two runs
