KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Golden Eagles ran away with this match, winning 8-1. CU ended up sweeping all three doubles flights, including a very close No.1 doubles match that went into a seven-point tiebreaker. The dominance continued in singles play as Cornerstone only dropped one of six matches. CU will play their final match in Florida tomorrow against Saint Anselm College.
Doubles Highlights– CU started the match off with a bang by winning all three doubles flights. The first doubles flight was a highly contested match that ended in a 8-7, 7-1 win for
Valentina Garcia and
Marissa Hooker. The next two matches, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, were both won by a score of 8-2.
Singles Highlights– The lady Golden Eagles took five total victories within singles play.
Abbie Meeuwsen, No. 6 singles was able to shutout her opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0. This marked the first shutout of Abbie's career. Cornerstone's No. 3 singles,
Marissa Hooker also had a great 6-1, 6-0 win. This is her 8
thsingles win of the season, tied for second on this talented CU squad.
Cornerstone plays their next match tomorrow against Saint Anselm College in their final game in Florida at 8:00a.m.
