KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Golden Eagles defeated Saint Anselm and finishes the trip with a 5-1 record. Cornerstone was able to win two out of the three doubles flights. The match win was secured when No. 5 singles victory. The next match CU will play will be on March 16at home against Indiana Tech.
Doubles Highlights– Cornerstone started by winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. One of the wins came from the second doubles flight, played by
Nicole VerHulst and
Olivia Kelley. This 6-2 victory marked their ninth doubles win of the season. The second of two doubles win came from
Amanda VerHulst and
Abbie Meeuwsen, No. 3 doubles, battled in a close match and eventually won 7-5.
Singles Highlights– CU were able to defeat Saint Anselm in four out of the six singles matches. A big win came on behalf of
Valentina Garcia, No. 1 singles. She was able to win 6-1, 6-1 in her fifth solo win of the 2018-19 season. A three-set thriller was won by
Amanda VerHulst at No. 5 singles. The final score of this hard-fought match was 6-1, 5-7, 10-7. The lady Golden Eagles were also able to win the No. 3 and No. 4 singles flights that ended up securing the win for Cornerstone.
CU will have a little break from their busy schedule before they will take on Indiana Tech University on March 16
