GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone was able to complete their sixth sweep of the season against Concordia University. CU won big in all of the three doubles flights during the first half of Friday's match. The Lady Golden Eagles took the victory in all six of the singles matches to complete the match sweep. thagainst Spring Arbor University at 11:00a.m.
Doubles Highlights– Cornerstone were quickly able to take control of the match by winning all three doubles matches. No. 1 doubles, played by
Valentina Garcia and
Marissa Hooker, defeated Concordia 8-4 to spark the hot streak for CU. The second doubles slot only gave up one game in their 8-1 victory. The doubles sweep was then secured with the No. 3 doubles win.
Singles Highlights– CU continued to dominate the competition by winning all six singles games in straight sets.
Valentina Garcia, No. 1 singles, won her match 6-2, 6-2. It was her seventh singles win and seventeenth total win of the season. Cornerstone's first, second, third, and fifth singles were able to hold their competition to less than three or fewer games.
Nicole VerHulst won her match at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-3 for her 24
thtotal win of the season.
Cornerstone's final regular season match will be tomorrow on the road against Spring Arbor University at 11:00a.m.
