GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.. – The Golden Eagles hosted #RV Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. The Blue Devils won game one by a 9-2 margin before pulling off a late come-from-behind 6-4 victory in game two to complete the sweep. Cornerstone (8-32 overall, 2-20 WHAC) will conclude the season on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Trinity International.
Game 1: Cornerstone 2 – Lawrence Tech 9
- Lawrence Tech got on the board first with three runs in the 2nd inning
- Rachel Younts came around to give Cornerstone their first run of the day in the 3rd inning
- The Blue Devils tacked on a couple more runs in the top of the 5th inning
- Madison Gallagher hit an RBI double in the 5th inning to cut the deficit to 5-2.
- Lawrence Tech scored four unanswered runs in the 6th inning to seal a 9-2 victory.
- Gallagher finished with two of Cornerstone's four hits.
Game 2: Cornerstone 4 – Lawrence Tech 6
- In the 4th inning, Hannah May cracked the ice of a scoreless ball game with a three-run blast over the fence in center field.
- McKena Razenberg drove in Alicia Ontiveros with an RBI double in the 5th inning, extending the lead to 4-0.
- The Blue Devils cut the deficit in half with a two-out, two-RBI double in the sixth inning.
- With two outs in the top of the 7th inning, LTU plated four unearned runs, propelling the Blue Devils to a 6-4 victory.
- McKena Razenberg and Alessa Baldwin-Buchner each recorded two hits
- Rachel Younts surrendered only two earned runs in 6.2 innings of work in the circle.
