LIVONIA, Mich. – Despite a career high 12 strikeouts from the new father
Noah Reed, the Golden Eagles were unable to score as they were shutout 3-0 at Madonna in the WHAC Tournament. The host Madonna has now officially advanced from Pod B and will play the winner of Pod A in the WHAC Tournament Championship, while the Golden Eagles have concluded their season. CU finished the year with a. 19-26-1 overall record as they will enter the offseason and get set for 2020.
Game Highlights
- Noah Reed, who was scheduled to start yesterday before his wife went into labor, returned today to get the start and after a rocky start concluded his career with a career best 12 strikeouts.
- An error in the second inning allowed Madonna to get on the board first with an RBI single up the middle making it 1-0.
- Neither team would score again until the seventh as Madonna finally got to Reed scoring two more on a pair of RBI singles.
- Cornerstone was only able to muster up three hits against Crusaders starter Daniel Gore in 6.2 innings pitched.
- John Beuckelare came in and pitched the final 2.1 innings and did not give up a hit.
- CU fell 3-0, ending their season after recording a total of three hits on the day.
