Women's soccer gets back on track with 4-0 victory over Grace Christian

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone's offense roared back to life after being shut out by Calvin earlier in the week. CU defeated Grace Christian University 4-0 to push their record up to 6-1-0. The Golden Eagles were dominant offensively, tallying 31 shots, 17 of which were on target. With the win tonight, Cornerstone now enters WHAC play on a high note. CU will face Siena Heights at home on Wednesday, September 25 at 4:30 pm to start of conference play.
 
The Highlights
  • After a great through-ball from Raelee VandenBerg, freshman Jozlyn VanTol played a deep cross to Danielle Goodyke who buried a header to open the scoring in the 37th minute.
  • Two minutes later, junior Phoebe LaCroix was taken down in the Grace box and senior Alexys Riksen scored the following penalty kick to make it 2-0 CU going into halftime.
  • In the 58th minute, freshman Anna Morgan cut inside and played the ball across to Alyssa Visser. Visser turned and laid it off to Jozlyn VanTol who finished comfortably.
  • With 15 minutes left to play, sophomore Madison Radcliffe picked up a Grace Christian clearance and fired a rocket into the top right corner from 25 yards out.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Hope Steenwyk also got the chance to make her debut for the Golden Eagles and helped seal the 4-0 shutout.
